Here's something I came up with that I think could help PvP to fit more easily into the flow of normal play.
Any player who is open to general PvP could put the following line at the top of their PC's description...
*** PvP Permission Granted ***
Only people who are fine with being involved in any RP-based PvP would do this. That might allow for a better flow of RP for those players.
Players who don't like PvP obviously would NOT put this in their descriptions.
Players who wanted to be asked for permission would NOT put this in their descriptions.
If this was a generally accepted standard for denoting PvP-admitting players, it would probably work out well.
So, there's the poll question.
If results are good, then I'll see about arranging some Leto-time with a certain DM so that interested players can have the descriptions of their current PCs updated. *begins to wonder what to bribe Bonesly with*

Only problem is, if you change your mind at some point, you've got to request that someone else goes out of their way to change it for you, which depending on what else they have to do and their willingness to do so at anything aproaching soon.... I imagine some people may want to change their status once they hit a higher level, or might realize they're inviting trouble from some people if they start as approved with a certain character concept. Just something to think about.

Yes, I think I suggested (off-hand) something like this in another thread.
I'd hope people wouldn't change their mind... and certainly not on a whim.
Still, so you think people might start out saying "yes", and then change their mind, and have a hard time getting a DM to make the change to their description. That's a valid concern.

I voted yes. However, I can see how it can lead to a situation where the attacker gives no warning OOCly before striking, which is extremely annoying when you're playing a spellcaster. Luckily, that's easy to fix.

Well I suppose it is upto the individual, if you want to put it in.. Feel free but do not be suprised on how others react and even some forget about roleplaying the PvP.

i voted yes. as i've mentioned in a different thread i'm fine with PVP /almost/ anytime. so i'd be up for this. it may be /alot/ of work on the Staff end of things tho, that's the only concern i have, but if thier up for it and the general populance is also i'd say go for it.
Yasmyn wrote ... I don't like the idea, I have to say, and voted "no". I hate seeing OOC things in an IC environment. I'd not find it particularly helpful.
Kind of like those "RP for info" descriptions. I always fail to see their point.
If a system like the one described here in this thread is implemented, it wont be much of a hassle for me. But I don't feel that it's necessary either.
To some point I also share Taniki's concern (what?!?!) that it might create some pvp that does not have an RP basis, wich may in the long run create less interest in RP'ing death, and make Thain less fun.
