I forget ... at what level do death penalties "kick in". I have my new warlock's deathpen set to "clock". And he dies several times each session (d'oh). Yet I have not seen any "time out" for him gaining XP via subsequent combat. TIA.
OK, I get it now. VC interferes with RP and immersion. VC for other games, not for Thain. I don't RP well ... something about my inability to separate my own personality from those of my characters. Probably explains why all my 'toons are "wiseguys". And I've often been reprimanded in-game by other players for disrupting their immersion with my non-Thain behavior and comments. I just think that VC adds to the social aspect of a game and adds to my maintaining my engagement with my fellow players. You're more a 'friend' if I can hear your voice. Except that time I was in VC with Lomir (Evendithus?) and he was drunk as a skunk - amusing but definitely changed my view of his RP at the time.
I jump in the Thain VC on occasion when I want to chat with everyone, but I'm basically the same as Gears! It's really hard for me to do both VC and RP at the same time, so I usually don't try.
Discord is great overall, I love all the servers and channels, and the search function (chatbox lacks things like this.) I do miss the ability to go back and read old discussions easily though. The forums are great for that!
It's just socialisation and information exchange on discord really. - creating a community. Voice comms in a rp game, I find just breaks the immersion and I forget to rp. I use it for other games where there is no rp just tactics.
OK. What's happening on Discord that I'm missing. When I go there I rarely see anyone from Thain using voice comms. It's all text messaging. Which is, in my opinion, little different than this chat box. Sure, you can post images and such. But, I don't get it if you're not using voice comms (something I do on Discord with other online games).
