well if you have a +3 bow with might +4 an AA would get up to +8 to hit 1d8+9 damage normally thats actually not that super if you consider a GMW howling katana with +5 to hit 1D10+1D4+5 damage still its better, but its not over extreme considering you cannot have shield/off hand weapon (and in case off cleric divine favor spell can give you up to +5 hit/dmg that also stack with enchantments)

The scary thing about AAs in RP worlds is that they don't have to powerbuild to be successful. Most of the powerful classes in this game need to have specific build/spell selections to achieve anywhere near their potential, but an AA becomes relatively strong by just taking AA levels and using a good bow.
Building an area to stop an AA isn't that difficult, but it requires a mentality of "Kill them before they kill all your guys." Powerful ranged damage or large hordes of powerful melee is key to stopping soloing AAs, since the class lacks the utility or defense to deal with them. They end up having to heal through the damage, which screws up their killing spree and ultimately leads to them dying. The Poisonwood, of course, is the opposite of that - it's a bunch of tough guys who don't deal that much damage, but their Damage Reduction and AC make them hard for most characters to take down.
How do AAs fare in the Bagnorn Keep? That seems like a much more offensively focused area, and I suspect it would give them a lot of trouble.

Well, when you're discussing class balance, you pretty much have to look at success and killing ability as synoymous. You can't judge how a class is 'balanced' for RP, because any class can be RPed equally well, based on the storytelling skill of the player.
Of course, roleplay is more important than killing power on Thain, but how the varying power of classes applies to RP would be a seperate (and worthwhile) discussion.
