One day at the Crossroads, a strange white-winged armored... thing.. was seen arranging strange stones on the grass. Some knew to call the creature Halla and most were wise enough to stay out of his way. By nighfall he was done and left a barrel full of the same stones by his creation. The stones are said to be called Riftstones and they radiate negative energy; even standing close to them makes most feel uneasy and not many can carry more than a few at a time.

Word among the common folk spreads that a nightmare creature holding the Pass of Ashes and consuming Empyrean appeared in the Iron City inner gates a few days after its discovery to wreak havoc, leaving the pass open for a brief time, before Hellknights regained control of the city gate interior.

Word from the city of Steinkreis is that the home of a half-elf known as Elissril Trevelyn was assaulted by the drow Kallista, who had come there looking for Elissril, and then left when the homeowner was not present, as this attack had come in the wake of an earlier intrusion that was said to have spooked the Half-elf out of her home. Many speculate that it has to do with the bombing of the Iron City's wall section that may have warranted the attack.

The sounds of battle flashed and rang inside the Iron City last night while the ritual burning of a traitor in the market was interrupted. Whether he lived or died is unknown, but pit fiend corpses were reportedly left behind.

Rumors spread that the forces of evil launched a two-pronged attack upon the Empyrean aurora. A large force consisting of demons, spiders, and the kin of Dragon's Watch assaulted Hamley, briefly taking control of the town. While a large force of Empyrean marched east from the siege battlegrounds to assist the city, the devils and the gnolls completed a ritual to blight and destroy the Empyrean's planar inhibitors.
With the inhibitors gone, planar travel into and out of the city is possible again, though enough disruption remains that it is not guaranteed. The imps have lowered their portal prices to what they insist is a much more reasonable sum given the circumstances. While long-term connection to the Hells has not yet been re-established, supplies are being provided from Dragon's Watch via supply portal.
Meanwhile, the Empyrean assault force was able to retake Hamley. However, the commander of the Empyrean siege, the famed Colonel Darienne, was taken captive during the confusion of the assault by the Dragon's Watch forces. She was seen being taken from Hamley towards the Watch, but her current whereabouts are unknown.
In Darienne's immediate absence, the celestial order has taken acting command of the siege. They are led by Titania, daughter of Ashtaga. The Empyrean have conjured a new supply portal in a closer (but more vulnerable) location behind the main lines. With the help of the celestials, they are being reinforced, and the siege continues. However, without their commander some of the Empyrean's resolve begins to falter. Can they truly win this war? Or might their order and its struggle become one more footnote in Thain's books of history?
One way or another, the siege appears to be driving towards an end.

Whispers tell of a strange thing occurring in Steinkreis- the gangs, which had been largely pushed back into the alleys and worst parts of Lowtown, have been striking out against Kreisian patrols. Until now, they had largely fought among themselves for dominance, but now they appear to be united by something. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Sir Feldan Rittermark. Letters addressed to him will find their way to the Knight's Keep.

A house in the city of Steinkreis, on Tanner's Alley street was found set on a blazing fire in the early hours of the morning. There was a smell of oil and alchemist fire present in the smoke that plummed from the burning house. At least two houses were reduced to charred rubble before the Steinkreis knights were able to contain the chaos of the fire and finally put it out. At least one of the houses destroyed has been identified as Elissril Trevelyn's home. [ image disabled ]

Rumor holds that three locations were sacked in the Iron City a day or so ago and robbed of tools, food and weapons under the continuing barrage of Empyrean siege engines. Reports indicate an open air market was raided as well as an indoor, fiendish merchant and a guard outpost.
