Randomly decided to check in after years and see talk of Doordie and Amel. Lots of fun memories! Arguably my first long time character, Narwyn, ended up closely aligned with Amel as his protege.
Doordie was one of the best RP's I ever played with. His stories, with his character Amel, were amazing. Rich, deep, complex. I hope Doordie is doing well! You have a really great Uncle!
It seems to me the rage these days is to have amazingly magical, weird, and even setting breaking mounts (e.g., the little car mounts in Tera)
Here's a quote from the Revival blog I linked:
Revival Blog wrote ...
We covered pet taming and being a beast master before. But what about the kinds of mounts and their rules in Revival? First, let’s be real clear on something. Just like everything in the world of Revival, we are a world that is steel first - magic second. Magic or otherwise supernatural powers are definitely present in the world. However, we put them out in small bits so we can play with the powerful high end of the spectrum for a long time. You can expect a similar scenario with mounts. There are no flying mounts, for technical reasons as well as the fact it just doesn’t fit in our fiction. You will also rarely see anything outside of our versions of the Equidae, Camelidae, or Bovidae family of species. We’ll have a wide variety within those and they’ll definitely have noticeable differences.

Their latest Blog entry: A day in the Life of a Nomad. This highlights a character who's not tied down to house & property : "There have been many mentions of shelters for the wayward, and we’ve touched more than once on the idea that many denizens of Theleston won’t own property of their own. Fawn is one of these, a wanderer, and in this Day in the Life, we will follow her.

To be fair, it's very early in their long term, mostly self-funded, development. They have real work and income, and they siphon off some of their overhead onto Revival; which is a shared dream their founders have.
I wouldn't spend money on it, and if anyone does, there's no assurance they won't fold up and leave you empty handed. So, buyer beware.
On the other hand, it's a great plan, and promises to be a very different kind of MMO.
