Randomly decided to check in after years and see talk of Doordie and Amel. Lots of fun memories! Arguably my first long time character, Narwyn, ended up closely aligned with Amel as his protege.
Doordie was one of the best RP's I ever played with. His stories, with his character Amel, were amazing. Rich, deep, complex. I hope Doordie is doing well! You have a really great Uncle!
An interesting thread from the Revival forums. It's about a year old, but has been steadily and actively discussing how housing in an MMO can add to immersion and promote sandbox-play and roleplay. Dor example, the developers discuss including a way to provide players with a deck of cards with card interaction functions, but no set rules for card games. Further along they discuss how books will be interactable -- i.e., the look of a bookshelf will be empty until you put books in it, and then the books can be removed and interacted with, too. And a lot more. It will either be the most amazingly immersive and fantastic MMO ever, or the worst and most tedious monstrosity to play ever. I can hardly wait to find out which!

Okay, I've been purusing further, and now this caught me off guard:

The music in Revival is built off of traditional fantasy composition. You’ll feel and hear rich and warm tones through live orchestras that fuel the overall experience. ... One of the composers we have worked with is the amazingly talented Pedro Camacho, who composed the song you hear playing on the website. The song was recorded with a 50 piece orchestra and represents a quality bar we wish to continue with the music in Revival. ... On top of strong classical music, Revival is also introducing melodic death metal as a complimentary musical feature. ... For those of you who do not know, melodic death metal is a genre of metal that focuses on heavy melodies. It is not just raw brutality, there is heavy focus on using scales and exploring harmony in the music. Melodic death metal is primarily found in scandinavian bands. It is important to note, because of the tone of Revival, most of the metal music is focused on the darker side.
(My emphasis).
Of course I immediately thought of Thimns.
They also link to three examples of this kind of music at the bottom of the page, and I'm intruiged that they would use this style as a situational layer of complexity on the music for an MMO. Their examples are "Insomnium", "Amon Amarth", and "Mors Principium Est", none of which I've heard of before (I'm not very knowledgeable on current music.)

So Amber, what level housing do you think you might go for to test out the game? $80 or $400?
I'm currently opted for the $0 level. I think they're too far from a real, deliverable product to be buying in. I understand others are excited and want to get in early; and I am too, but not far enough to hand them money for basically long-term and non-binding promises. I would say they're two-three years out still. Maybe more.
Also, before anyone puts down a large amount of money on their housing, understand that you can lose it due to in-game events (e.g., the city is destroyed by Cthulhu, or if other players just cause a fire to break out) and they are not promising refunds or compensation if that does happen.
I perused the website a little. It looks really intriguing.
Quick question, though. Amber, what does it mean that a server enjoys GOLD status? Do you have to subscribe to play on a golden server, and are non-golden servers free?

Yes, the Gold servers are subscription only, and they have live 24x7 storytelling teams (Basically, actual DM's). The other servers will be free-to-play, and subscribing means you can play on both Gold and regular servers.
