Randomly decided to check in after years and see talk of Doordie and Amel. Lots of fun memories! Arguably my first long time character, Narwyn, ended up closely aligned with Amel as his protege.
Doordie was one of the best RP's I ever played with. His stories, with his character Amel, were amazing. Rich, deep, complex. I hope Doordie is doing well! You have a really great Uncle!

Hi,
I have a question regarding Rangers. When creating mine, I dont remember selecting my Favored Enemy (maybe I missed it). Upon looking at my character sheet, I notice my Favored Enemy is Aberrations.
What the heck are aberrations?
I dont see it as very important, but it might spark ideas for RP. Right now, my ranger has a *very* strong dislike of Goblins and Kobolds, and is afraid of undead.

If you want to change your Favoured Enemy to something that makes more sense for your RP, PM Bonesly with your request and if the staff agree, the change can be made in your character's .bic file

Oh! That clarifies it, thanks Lightfoot! I can find a way to work that into my backstory
"...My father was a wealthy optometrist, catering to beholders. One day, he sneezed during an examination and this startled his customer....my father was charmed, petrified and disintegrated all at once. What's worse, the beholder floated out without paying his bill"
I now seek to destroy all near-sighted beholders I can find.

During character creation you can choose a "package" of skills/feats or you can "customize" and do it yourself. It sounds like you chose a package if you never saw an option to choose the Favored Enemy feat. No problem if you want to change it and you're still Level 1--if you've progressed beyond that, we'll have run it by the staff as Yas mentioned above. Although if you're happy to RP with Aberations, then that's good too!

Yea, I think I'll stick with it. I already have a backstory for my character, but this can easily be incorporated into it. I'm thinking instead of the tired old "they killed my father/mother/goldfish", I'd go with a youth spent listening to an old Elven hunter, telling tales of the Underdark (and giving tips on fighting the creatures found there.)
