Randomly decided to check in after years and see talk of Doordie and Amel. Lots of fun memories! Arguably my first long time character, Narwyn, ended up closely aligned with Amel as his protege.
Doordie was one of the best RP's I ever played with. His stories, with his character Amel, were amazing. Rich, deep, complex. I hope Doordie is doing well! You have a really great Uncle!
This is something I came to think about while running around a bit IG yesterday.
In Raven's Watch, a relatively easy place to get to, there is a +2 light armor suit avalible for purchase. The best heavy armor I have seen that is avalible for purchase is +1 and to get that, you have to complete a quest. In addition it seems to me that many magical armors that can be found such as Syann's orders armor and the Noisy ringmail (forgot the exact name) are light or medium armor.
Am I wrong or is there a bias towards light armor on Thain?

*tries to think of a way to convert Syann's Shadow armour into robes so she can display Eliswathe's evilness more effectively* Too much armour, too few robes...

Ahh... the armor discussion again.
Assuming you are going for the very best that you can get (highest AC), I'll roughly describe (without spoiling) the suits that I know of.
If you can manage a 20 or higher DEX (for the +5 bonus), there is a certain suit of Leather Armor that has a +3 bonus. This suit is easily obtained if you have enough gold. Given a 22 DEX, you would have an AC of 21 while wearing just this armor. The armor also comes with some other sweet bonuses, and no negatives. I consider this to be, by far, the best armor in the game, but it is at least priced as such.
If you can't manage a 20 DEX, there are a number of suits of +2 Studded Leather to be found. Some are better than others, but you'll get up to an AC of 19 wearing one.
Skipping the medium armors (of which I'm not familiar), the previous best offering in the heavy category was +1 Full Plate, allowing up to an AC of 20. There are a few versions of this, but the best seem to be plain, with some others having some notable disadvantages. There is also at least one variety of +2 Half Plate, though I've always considered the plain +1 Full Plate to be a better choice.
Recently, as Uthoroc mentioned, a +2 Full Plate has become available. It also has some other bonuses, which easily makes this suit the best of the heavy armors. Of course, you can get up to an AC of 21 with this suit.
While I might still think that there should be a bit more balance (either cap at +2 or make +3 in more varieties), I'll say that I'm very content with the choices now. At least the best armors all give you up to a 21 AC, and they all come with some extra bonuses.
Right now, I'm more inclined to say that the Leather Armor I mentioned above should be reduced to +2. That would seem to bring it in line with the rest of the server. Of course, it IS a popular item. I would expect a good deal of... um... discussion to insue if that was done.

I agree with Pilininge.
Don't touch his armor! (It's covered in cooties.)
[Edit: Nah, I've decided not to add any comments about the odor also not being there when he bought it. Oh, wait - whoops! Okay, I'll say this much - the cooties are worth the extra +1 AC at least! It's a penalty not listed in the armor's item properties.]
