It does make you wonder, though. I mean, I've been drinking beer for twenty years and smoking for fifteen. I don't even want to guess at what sort of car I could have driven by now...

Yeah well I've gone 2 years with ecig instead of real smokes now. Rough calculations say I've saved something like 1000-1200 euros a year doing so. Yet, somehow, I don't have any more money than I used to.

Lol. They say the more you have the more you spend... I am five years smoke free now myself. Smoking and getting drunk were an addiction for me. That's where all of my money went.

Since then I done got me a wife...I used the money I saved after I quit smoking and drinking to pay towards the cost of wedding. Now we are saving for a house as we try for a child. I'm grateful to have more than I need now - enough to support the work of the church and give to others, and to eat enough for 2 men every day to support my training.

Good for you. Those are hard addictions to break.

The lesson is, don't drink $5 beers. It's happy hour somewhere.

I handily solved this problem by getting rid of the car. More money for booze and you can't drive when you're pissed anyway!
