The dress originally appeared as White and Gold to me, but after seeing "Real" pictures of the dress (Different lightning, in catalogues / otherwise) it appeared as a completely different blue and black.
If this ISN'T a hoax, this is the best explanation I've found, as I'm nearsighted but have good color vision:
"I’ve just tested this on my friends and got mixed answers. In my test, the friends who wore glasses (including myself) all saw gold and white. Those without vision problems saw blue and black. I showed them the picture without any context at first, only asking what color the dress was before explaining the problem. This was to keep the experiment unbiased, so I knew no one was fucking with me. One theory is that people who need glasses/contacts see white and gold. This may be due to myopia, a type of color deficiency that has become increasingly common in people with nearsightedness. The exact cause for this prevalence is still unknown, though some scientists think it may be caused by extra eye strain on those with ‘weaker’ eyes. Mystery solved? I don’t know, this was just my analysis and quick research. If any has a better explanation, please share!"
