Randomly decided to check in after years and see talk of Doordie and Amel. Lots of fun memories! Arguably my first long time character, Narwyn, ended up closely aligned with Amel as his protege.

Doordie was one of the best RP's I ever played with. His stories, with his character Amel, were amazing. Rich, deep, complex. I hope Doordie is doing well! You have a really great Uncle!

Subjects
A ~ Faux Symbol of Shar (Oak)
B ~ Faux Symbol of Bane (Oak)
C ~ Faux Symbol of Tyr
D - Faux Symbol of Lathander
E ~ Aaron Rhodes - Paladin, order unknown
F ~ Celeste - Maiden of Sune
G * Anonymous Obnoxious Adventurer
H * Zanzi

Test Notes

The subjects today responded rather violently to the tests. It appears that my hypothesis was correct and that it's possible those closest to their religion may be the most zealous of the entire community. This would also place them at the forefront of the actions taken by those who would label themselves "Adventurers", whether by voice or lifestyle.

The two symbols of gods that represent evil were met immediately with, as they would coin it, holy retribution. Subject A, made of oaken wood, was cracked well beyond recognition; a strength no doubt granted to Subject E by his divine benefactor before taking on the task. This came as a surprise; expect Subject F to respond more venomously, though Subject F remained passive aggressive throughout the entire test. Subject F's hatred was more compressed, much greater. Violence potential high.

Subject B brought forth a similar reaction, though no divine favor was granted. Subject E seemed to be more clear headed, simply burning it in the firepit. After the ashes died down I introduced Subject C which seemed to anger them more; a curious reaction.

They believed me to be mocking them; Subject E began making verbal threats and reverted to a child-like behavior, mainly name-calling and attacking my obvious flaws such as my accent. Xenophobia very prevalent and possible cause for many of his actions. Subject F simply agreed with Subject E though remained passive aggressive in some vain hope of keeping her lady-ship.

I had Doctor Lanshee show the ink-images of Subject B to Subject G and little response was giving other than his normal obnoxious attitude. No notable reaction. Subject H was shown the same image and recognized it as a symbol of an evil god, though failed to respond horribly to it-- perhaps not quite grasping the concept.

After Thoughts
Certainly a strong sense of faith within many adventurers. Possible source for divine energy to fester and grow within. Admirable levels of devotion though will could use much improvement.

Insanity rate is going to be higher than expected.

Focus: Perspicuus Genus
Constellation: n/a

Doctor Lanshee brought the focus to my attention two days ago; around mid-day on the 2nd. She had been watching the focus in the sky for some time (surprised she knew some of the field) and was worried at its erratic behavior. Mentioned it was flickering and blinking; suggesting that it may soon fall. Surprisingly correct-- at least I would assume so. Went to look, realized we lacked proper viewing materials.

Doctor Lanshee knew of a telescope located near the Celestial Ruins. It seemed the only option; and inevitably inside we met with the celestial who I believe has been sent to keep an eye on me. He was surprisingly nice and let us use the telescope-- which we promptly removed from the grounds as storm clouds gathered and obstructed our view of Perspicuss Genus. Higher ground has to be reached, and we set for a base in the Grey Mountains. We hired a guide, Fistin Thunderbelly; appeared to suffer from achondroplasia. This did not hinder him; he was knowledgeable in the area and brought us to a monastery that offered a clear view. From there I was able to confirm the star held 56 SP, while Doctor Lanshee noted only a few days ago it held 74 SP. Declining rapidly, similar to The Incident those many years back. Seems to be mimicking the behavior; if such patterns repeat I highly suspect it will fall.

Calculations indicate it will fall east; roughly in the sea. I loathe seafaring, but for such an expedition I shall make an exception. My excitement cannot be expressed properly.

~Dr. Thavius Vlardd Stoinvenburger IV

NOTE TO SELF: Purchase telescope.

ANOTHER NOTE TO SELF: Put Zanzi on the payroll; look into Fistin.

Patient Brutus (Clan Name Unknown) Pre-Exam I had decided a walk was necessary after my long absence. It has been some time since Doctor Lanshee disappeared and I admit my break was due partially to trying to find her to not caring and carrying on with other experiments that her incompetence kept me from performing. I managed to get the lab in some order before I left and went to the Trade and Tackel, a common meeting place for adventurers on this island-continent. That is when I met Zanzi, who frequents the place, along with Brutus; a dwarf. Brutus had been eavesdropping on Zanzi and myself and learned of my doctorate and wished a man of a learned background to examine a battle wound on his leg that was causing him much physical pain. I agreed to take a look at his leg back at my lab. Test 1: Initialize First Impressions hold more than just social meaning. Brutus, upon meeting me, held himself in high regards. Only with mention of his leg did I notice his ego drop, as with his voice. The leg has effected him on a mental level (NOTE: This information was not/will not be shared with the patient); his pride appears to have taken some damage. Upon realizing this, I decided to take a look at him immediately and proceeded to my lab; escorted by Zanzi. Test 2: Role Replacement This test occurred on the road to Steinkreis and my lab. I asked the patient to assume the role of a middle aged elven female who specialized in alchemy; as I believed it to be the polar opposite of his own mental condition. I then proceeded to ask where his ideal place to live would be, where he would go if he were to leave his life as this elven female. He immediately assumed I spoke of Doctor Lanshee (whom he was acquainted with) and refused to answer the question at first. After explaining to him how vital these tests were, he gave me an answer; to an old friend. This instilled anger in him as he then, without my asking, revealed that a friend of Doctor Lanshee's had injured his leg. His obsession with Doctor Lanshee is quite troublesome. Test 3: Visualization Upon arrival at my lab, as Brutus stripped from his armor, I showed him the old ink-blots I used in my March 29th test. He saw them as a slain goblin, an ogre with its head cracked in, and a mug of ale. This is typical adventurer behavior; so I can only conclude that mental damage is minimal. The Examination Scar tissue has grown on the entirety of the vaste externe and move along the tenseur du fascia lata. Outside it appears as a normal scar. Patient describes pain as being both a burning and a stinging sensation. Negative energies were used in the scarring on this leg, as evident by the small irritated ring around the tissue. Removal of the scar layer revealed the wound to be much deeper than I anticipated. Subject revealed an "Amel" did this to him (a common man of myth spoken by the locals in fear). The arcane he described used in this was both fire and negative; an energy used to drain his lifeforce. He noted his hairs turned white after the wound, a common side-effect of draining magic. Would like to examine wound deeper; though doing so would risk more permanent inter-couturier damage. The wound was promptly closed after examination via Deus Ex Machina. Conclusion On a mental level the patient is stable. Suffers minor obsessions with Doctor Lanshee. Suffers damage to pride and ego. The energies used to cause the wound have since left, but I suspect permanent damage that no magics or medicine can reverse. With age this wound shall grow worse. Amputation or immediate relief need to be explored. Prescription A strong medicine to dull the pain will be needed. I have yet to conglomerate such a medicine, though I promised one to the patient by next week. Possible ingredients needed: "pixie dust" (the feylonius prognotas strand), belladonna, salt-peter, gerbanium, sulphur, zinc, dreammist powder, opium, onion powder, carbon dust, sodium citrate, dextrose, starch, and magnesium stearate. ~Dr. Thavius Vlardd Stoinvenburger IV Note: Find this Amel. Inquire about Doctor Lanshee

A hastily scrawled letter is left on top of a stack of papers in Thavius' makeshift lab. The handwriting is atrocious, and several words are obscured by blobs of ink. Doctor Thavius, Please forgive the (undecipherable) of this letter. There is too much to write and not enough time ink. The (blotch) has happened and I need you to execute plan 271. It's coming in a few minutes time. Find Vera - she might also be called Lucca. I gave her the potion and your name. If I'm right, the whole thing will happen in Feywood, where the stupid the elves live. Bring two bananas, one for you and one for her. Don't forget! The star is (undecipherable). That's very important. I organized your papers by parchment shade while I was here. I hope that helps you find things. It's here. -Lanshee

Lanshee appears

After such a long time without seeing or even hearing from Lanshee, I viewed it as if she was off the island and never truly thought anything negative would of became of her. Lanshee seems to adapt to nearly every situation that has come up and still come out ahead and alive. Then one day flying high in the sky a lone figure in a dirty lab coat was running down the path kicking up dust. I glided lower to get a closer look and sure enough it was indeed Lanshee so I landed in the taller grass then unsummoned my shape. Standing up turning around I Greeted Lanshee.

Vera: Lanshee? Is that really you?

Lanshee: Vera!… Vera.. I have been looking all over for you its important!

Vera: Whats important? Well you found me just calm down your talking to fast. Nice to see you to stranger.

Lanshee: I don’t have much time .. Its something really important I must tell you..

Lanshee grasping her head closing her eyes as if trying truly hard to recall something. Beads of sweat rolled down off her forehead down to her cheekbones that were completely red. She was acting nothing like how I remembered her. She kept looking over her shoulder and all around as if she was looking out for something.

Lanshee: I can’t remember why is it I can’t remember!? its really important..

Vera: Sit down its okay are you in trouble is someone following you? If they are giving you trouble I won’t let them touch you okay.

Lanshee: No no!!.. you can’t help its trying to kill me.

Vera: What’s trying to kill you? I won’t let that happen you know that.

Leaning down toward Lanshee for she had collapsed of exhaustion sitting down looking up at me. She kept repeating the same things over and over of what she was trying to tell me. Suddenly as if it came to her she reached into her pocket and a huge bright yellow bent stick of sorts was put into my face. Startled I popped my head back and stood up again.

Lanshee: What is that doing in my pocket? I didn’t put I there.. nor do I remember how it got there.

Vera: I don’t have a clue… what the hell is that thing? Get it out of my face.

Lanshee: That’s not what I wanted to give you anyhow.

She tossed it aside into the grass and stood back up to face me she seemed a bit calmer now catching her breath. Frowning staring at the yellow stick in the grass she looked back at me as her face turned from nearly calm to screaming.

Lanshee: I know … its this potion! You have to hide it! You have to bring it to Feywood in a few days! You have to make sure nobody gets it!

Vera: Sure alright just calm down I will take it and protect it.. but more important were going to protect you okay.

Lanshee: We don’t have time! You have to promise me! here take it hide it! I have to leave before it finds you with me.

Vera: Will find a place for you to hide out, our home in the unnderdark or even Amels place, maybe a room in the Watch.

Lanshee: You also have to find Thavius! He knows a lot about whats going on he lives in Stienkriess. Find him and meet me in Feywood.

Vera: How far and where in Stienkriess ? And really Feywood like near the village you know I can’t do that.

Vera : Ill go find this Thavius until then.

Vera: I will keep this potion and you safe so come on lets go.

[ image disabled ]

Lanshee: Your going to need Lucca call on her she will help she can get you in. Oh and one more thing. It was good to see you again.

Just as she finished that sentence her eyes shot up and you can see the fear in her face mouth opening slowly as she screamed.

Lanshee: It’s here!

Vera: Huh? What’s here?

Pulling out both blades turning around scanning the area into the darkness the surroundings glowed in a dark red as my eyes adjusted. The winds cold breeze coming in from the north was making the tall grass bend and shuffle all around us.

Vera: I don’t see a damn thing Lanshee, What Exactly do you see?

No answer was returned. Slowly turning around to not see the startled Lanshee freaked me out as well. I took a shape and flew around still not finding her anywhere. I came back to where she had disappeared. Looking down into the area the bright yellow curved stick was still laying on the floor. I picked it up and cracked it open as the sweet fragrance hit my senses I brought it closer to my face getting a closer sniff. So sweet my mouth watered I had to take one bite and another until I finished it off. I closed my eyes and got in tune with the one I have yet to talk to in awhile.

Vera: Lucca I know you and I have not gotten along as of late but Lanshee is both of are friend and she sounds like she needs our help.

Lucca: Very well for Lanshee I will lend you my shape but if you miss use it like you had attempted in Greenvale I will leave you in the most inconvenient of times.

Vera: Very well we have a deal lets move we have a lot of area to cover.

Taking the shape of Lucca they headed toward Stienkress to find this Thavius in hopes he could enlighten this situation. Tossing the empty banana peel to the side of the road they walked off into the darkness.

Meanwhile; a note is left in the lab...

Dear Brutus,

Please accept my deepest apologies, but something of great importance has arisen and I must be off with haste. I should hope that Zanzi has reached you and instructed you to this note. If not, then I suppose I am rambling to only myself and there is little purpose to this letter. Inside the crate next to this letter is a two week supply of the supplement of what I promised you.

Ingest orally 1g twice a day.
Do not ingest water an hour before or after you take the potion.
Consult me after your dose runs out.

With deepest apologies and highest hopes,
Doctor Thavius Vlardd Stoinvenburger IV

A note is slid under the door of Stoin's empty lab. The writing is almost illegible, as if it were written with a shaking hand and blurred vision. Much of it makes little sense.

Doc Stoin:

I run out. Dad keeps talking. Can't make him stop. I sleep. Toran is there too. Pain. Leg hurts more every time. Need more. Find me on the floor. Trade and Tackel. Dad is here. Have to go.

An urgent message from Doctor Lanshee, or someone who claims to be Doctor Lanshee, has arrive but two days ago. This cannot be ignored; whether or a trap or not I am sure that should I follow this lead the mystery of her disappearance shall have light shed on it. A subject that, indeed, remains too deep within the darkness to give me comfort; given the events and research that transpired before he sudden disappearance.

My duties will have to be overlooked at present. According to this map, which I have checked and is current with the known country-side, the closest settlement to this "Feywood" is a Raven's Watch. Rumor speaks of less than savory sorts gathering in the town; a free-trade port that's a breeding ground for vagabonds and bandits alike. I wish I had more time to contact Zanzi; though he current duties serving her adventuring troupe keep her from easy contact of my person. I shall leave a note at the Trading Post she frequents on my journey north. Should she not arrive in time, which I must prepare for, I will have to look to the local mercenaries for help in the matter. If the gods were ever to hear me now; I wish they would-- though I give little hope to that.

=====

September 21st, 2709 P.D. -- Undstavian Standard

I'm afraid I've had little time to gather my thoughts at this point; but to sum up my situation I now write this in the dim lighting of a candle; engulfed in the darkness of a cavern that inhabits Feywood. Now that things have settled, perhaps I can finally get my thoughts on paper.

Patient: Ashan
Age: Roughly 40
Origin: Unknown Wilderness
Occupation: Adventurer
Race: Human
Frequents: Poisonwood; Raven's Watch

A rather mysterious character. I first met him along the road outside Raven's Watch on my way into the town; and admittedly first believed him to be among the simple bandits and penny-pushers that inhabit this town. However; he later addressed me as a doctor within the tavern; thus it appears my reputation has spread beyond the walls of Steinkreis. An ailment, he said, had come over him and he detailed some pains of his back. Immediately I knew the cause of the problem, but his pockets were deep and it is more important in these times to offer a gentle hand then to straight out give the patient their affliction.

His lifestyle and age were coming together as one; forming the pain which he described. No magics or medicines can reverse such effects, alas, as it is truly mortality slowly creeping upon our shells to remind us that we are, indeed, apart from the gods. For without mortality, what else are we?

I made several notes of his tattoos across his skin. I had thought these to be of his tribe; which he later claimed they were of his goddess. A man of religion he is, though as our talked progressed from business to that of leisure I soon caught that his faith was slowly leaving him. He has come, much as I have, to the realization that perhaps we mortals are but insects in the eyes of the gods. That we possibly can mean little more to them as a simple ant means to me. And you cannot fault me for not caring for the ant. I am an important man, with important work to do-- and the ant is simply an ant.

This brought back memories of the events that transpired thirty years ago in Undstavia-- but before I could speak of such things matters became more urgent.

Note: possible mental deterioration due to exposure to poisons; as well as physical.

Patient: "Izzy" (suspected nickname)
Age: Roughly in mid 30s
Origin: Unknown, Subterranean in Nature
Occupation: Bandit
Race: Dark Elf (Drow)
Frequents: Raven's Watch

"Izzy", as I soon learned, was a friend of Ashan's. I had thought little of her before, but we soon faced her bleeding on the floor before us after some horrible bar brawl (I can only imagine a product of her race). Ashan seemed ready to pay for any procedure I could do; so we quickly rushed her to the less than adequate rooms downstairs and I began my work. A skilled bladesmen had run a sharp object through her lower abdomen, piercing her spleen. I began immediate medical work (See B19 for details).

Somewhere in the procedure one of my other patients, Brutus, had entered the room after appearantly tracking me from great lengths. With "Izzy" passed out and Ashan at her side me and Brutus moved upstairs to talk of his own condition.

Patient: Brutus (details further back)

The medication I created seemed to be failing him; though the incompetent dwarf revealed he was taking it in excess and beyond what I instructed; claiming he "didn't feel it enough".

Reported symptoms:
Hallucinations
Fever
Vomiting
Severe Pain after use

To comfort him I promised to rework the prescription. I do hope I can make good on such. Though at this time I'm afraid events changed once more beyond my control; though of such things I will write on later.

I can detail little at this time; as the search for Doctor Lanshee continues. I am within the Feywood still with another companion who claims to be Vera. They are a shape-shifter; their origin to me is highly unknown and they are very possibly working against both me and Doctor Lanshee. In short, I met them in Raven's Watch and was handed a potion that is obviously the make of Doctor Lanshee. I cannot ignore this; but I worry. Is it too late? Vera could simply be an agent, and if so then I can only fear the worst.

~~Dr. Thavius Vlardd Stoinvenburger IV

It might be too late
already. Lanshee has been found, something isn't right.
I don't know what I can do. I don't know what I can do.

After all that had happend lately finding Lanshee but then again not. Being stationed in a cave with Doctor Thavius and all his strange contraptions. Only to lose Thavius the potion and Lanshee not knowing whom she is anymore it was getting frustrating on her. Vera goes back to the cave to look for any clues of Thavius's whereabouts.

I should of just killed him when I had the chance and taken back the damn potion by force. Damn traitor!! I thought he was going to actually help, he must be working against Lanshee.
*says to herself as she sifts thru all the scattered belongings of Dr. Thavius*

Searching thru the rubble she finds a journal Titled Anatomy of a God. She takes a seat and begins to flip a few pages.

Hmm.. I wonder what this is? Anatomy of a God.. Oh its his journal this may indeed help.
