@TheSaltyDemon, Yes I definately remember Doordie! Amel was one of the best rp'ed/complex characters on the server. Love that guy!

Absolutely remember him! Amel was a beast, he was one of the best rp'd villains of all time. How is he?

I'm wondering if any of you have ever permanently killed off a character, and why?

Murriwink. She sucked, and didn't contribute fun to anyone.

Jeri Theed Orman. His story had gone on too long and frankly he had gotten (or was always) a little ridiculous. Like that moment when your D&D game WHEN half the party has Dragonlances and they each ride one of Tiamat's heads and the GM goes "what the hell was I smoking when I allowed this to happen" and one day "loses" all of his campaign notes, burns his house down, changes his name, and moves to another state.

... the above example is purely hypothetical. Made it up just now. Certainly never done it. Nope.

I also perma-killed Brigham Rhodes but that's just because his story ended better with his death.

Orias Rester wasn't perma-killed but he was perma-retired because he never really succeeded in being compelling.

[EDIT ADD] I mean I've also perma-killed -other- characters, as in not ones I control, but really the choice to keep them dead is from their player. Lane Seneseth and Alfin Vale, for example. As for why I killed them, it's because their deaths were necessary to fuel the eldritch rituals I use to stay young.

My first priestess of Beshaba (Sandrine) got sacrified by the truly evil Kyren. It was an unplanned IC permadeath.

So you met one of my tabletop DMs, I see.

On topic: Yes. All the time. Because I'm bored or it suits the story.

I've never actually RP'd any of my characters permadying, but I have had a bunch just deleted without ceremony. I admit I have a problem with getting excited about concepts that don't prove to be that fun for myself or others after all.

Tanna Nightsong, Bard, Self-elected Defender of the Hin, and Harper Guildmaster, executed by the Red Wizards of Thay after she had conspired to destroy the Thayan trading post in Raven's Watch by means of an explosive device.
