"Seems like the Moriah, the Alphon, the Gull, Dawn's Compass and Forever Buoyant have missed their shipment deliveries," said the clerk flicking through scrolls as they walked across the dock in Webster's Landing. "There was report of a nasty tempest east recently across the water. Do you think that has anything to do with it?"
The sailor looked out at the darkening water in the fading light of the day. The sound of a sharp snort followed by the launch of gelatinous fluid splattered the boards of the dock.
"Hard to say," said the one-eyed man. "Weather ain't guessed ta be that rough this month. Might 'ave to ask the ships' mages though. Didn't hear nothin' from them last week about no storms. Could be a bad run with a sea serpent. There's always one lurkin' 'neath those waves."
"What should we do then?" asked the clerk. "The investors haven't stopped sending me crows and pigeons since the Moriah missed its delivery and have gradually been getting nastier about their lack of ore."
The sailor looked back at the clerk momentarily but simply nodded after another snort and splatter.
"Just our contracts, right?"
The clerk nodded.
"Keep 'em goin'," the sailor said. "There's always another ship to sail. S'why we gots insurance."

Wind cracked across sails and wood groaned under the pressure of water as waves slapped the ship’s hull like the palm strikes of gods. The sky fractured under lightning bolts as wood and air splintered. Tendrils lashed across the masts of the ship, as claws and tentacles struggled for dominance.
The crew of the Moriah screamed as the skipper was pulled overboard by a tentacle. A claw the green of oxidized metal ripped one tentacle free of the ship and the call of a leviathan below the depths echoed in pain beneath the water’s surface.
Prayers for the protections of Wai’i’lanai, cries cursing sea dragons and others damning squids battled one another for survival with at last silence claiming them all as the Moriah’s crew made its final journey to the depths under the red sun of day’s end.
Pieces of driftwood bearing the ship’s logos drifted onto the sands of Thain shores...that and more.
This will be a player-led RP introductory event tentatively slated for 10 p.m. EST, Wednesday. Hope to see you there!
