The sun was high in the blue sky and his rays warmed the Earth; the meadow was quiet and one could hear only the noise of a small river. In the middle of the Meadow, there was a gigantic tree, from which a comforting feeling radiated.

Under the tree's shadow there was the old sorcerer, his arm leaning on the tree and a sad expression on his face.

It was only by chance that Elith learnt about the transformation of Cuchuwyn, however it was painful. With Cuchuwyn disappeared in fact on from the powerful defender of the light of the Island.

Unfortunately, nothing could prevent the sacrifice of the druid, at least so the sorcerer heard and read.

A long time go Elith and the dwarf worked together to extract the poisonous essence of the Poisoned Woods, moreover they were successful in their intent.

Now, Elith looked for the dwarf once more, in order to replicate the ritual and extract again the poison essence and destroy the immortality of Syfana. However this time a big and sad surprise was in store for the sorcerer: Cuchuwyn was no more. It happened during an attempt to prevent the spreading of the Void and the result was in front of Elith. The Void was vanquished but the druid was transformed in that tree.

The sorcerer looked the tree for a long moment, then shook his head.

-Another is gone and I begin to understand the weight of my duty-

Finally, he turned around and moved away, somehow leaning more on his staff.

7. Die notige Hilfe.

From the Academy of Greenvale, a raven is seen flying off from a window on the second floor and venturing forth in the north skies.

Esteemed Caster Mennen,

I hope this note finds you in good health and in high spirits. Due to recent developments, I am in need of your assistance and knowledge in matters relating to source magic.
Please come to Greenvale at your earliest convenience.

In Hope,

~ Elith Sianicen

8. Giftsessenz

Falls ja, was wäre ihr Gegenzug? -

The silence of the night in Elisara was interrupted only by occasional noises from birds and the steps of the Estels on patrol, aside of that all was quiet. Too quiet. In contrast with the quietness of the night, the Sorcerer was restless, as if something could suddenly and unexpectedly go sideways.

In his study, Elith muttered, as he toyed shortly with the small crystal. -Funny, how important such a small thing can be- Then, he carefully put the crystal in one of his many pouches.

-Did the Arben have enough time to recognize us? If so, what would be their countermove?-

Many questions and uncertainties, but no clear answer to any of those.

For a short moment Elith thought about what happenned. The ritual was a success, Caster played his role perfectly. He conducted the ritual without mistakes, in such a way to gather the posionous essence from the Ashenwood and, to his merit, the two of them could gather the poisonous essence from all the four elements of the woods.

The process was not easy, because the necrmoantic energies that filled the elements of the Ashwood battled against the attempt of the druid, but Caster, despite the necromantic energies, could force the elements and their poisonous essence within the crystal.

It was no easy task.

And now, as all of that seemed bygone, Elith looked the white stars from the window of his study and thought about his next step: -What could cut the bond between Syfana and the heart of the Island?-

8b. One in the ashes remembers.

"Elarion, have you- Yu'syu's treacherous face! What is that stench?!"

"Hopefully something that will provide more than a pungent aroma. You were saying?"

The ranger came over to peek in Elarion's cauldron and made a face when it saw it filled with dead animals cooked in the green waters.

"Are those.. Is that a squirrel?"

"Brother. Focus."

"Right.. Some outsiders performed some form of ritual in the caves. We need you to come look."

Elarions brows both raised at the ranger, but he set his staff aside and joined him to where the ritual took place. He stood and watched the scene for a fair bit before speaking.

"Did anyone survive to get a good look at them?"

"Reports say a shapeshifter, likely half elven and one elderly elven mage, dressed in rags."

Elarions brows furrowed at this. He met someone matching that description on the streets of Greenvale. It was a mage he would have several skirmishes with and they are both of equal power, at least in destructive capabilities. He crossed his arms as he considered. No normal elf would live to see their old age. Not in this world. Not even in Elisara. Could it be this elder has greater potential he didn't get to see on the front lines? That would certainly complicate matters, but he can not let this elder keep doing whatever it is he does.

"Gather the Firn'lith. I need ten sisters. Four to meet me in my jail cell. Six to meet me after in the crypts."

"And this?"

"I will see to it personally."

9. Selbsgerechtigkeit

~Elith Sianicen

-Gods dammit!- Cursed Elith, as he threw books and scrolls agains the wall of his study.

-How could it happen?! The crystal was so important and now, I have lost it!-

-You stupid fish head, how could you allow him to defeat you?! In that moment, you should have fleed! You already knew it, the crystal was too important to lose! But no! You had to fight, to show him that you and Greenvale are stronger than anyone from the Ashwood!-

Sker watched for a short moment the Baelnorn, then added: - Master, you win some and you lose some. It is part of the game, you know th-

- Shut your mouth!- Elith yelled: - Some fights cannot be lost!-

In answer, the Fey bared his fang aggressively.

- He dared to question me and to ask me what I knew about the poison of the Woods, as if he wanted to show me the good of the Ashwood, of Syfana, of the Order!- The voice of the sorcerer being louder with every word spoken.

Without noticing it, Elith touched his throat, where the scar, caused by the collar of his time of torture, used to be.

The Sorcerer then closed his eyes and relived the duel, scorn guided his hand and his spells were casted with hatred, however they were all uneffective.

Initially Elith conjured a bubble without air that surrounded the other sorcerer, but this one could keeop breathing thanks to his air reserve in the mask he was carrying. Then came the explosion caused by the the mage of the Ashwood, that sent him flying across the room, landing him on the wall. Elith fumbled on the ground and pulled part of the ceiling on top of his enemy, but to no effect, as the Ashwoodian firstly destroyed the rubble with two incandescent fire orbs and then directed the orbs toward the Baelnorn on the ground, burning deeply his essence.

At that moment I should have made my escape, instead of trying to keep on fighting. Hate and scorn blinded me and I lost the picture from my eyes.-

Elith rolled to the side and, from his streched hand, he threw darts of raw magical energy, but his darts crashed against those made of poison conjured by the Ashwodian mage. The Baelnorn was shocked, only few could counter those raw energies.
Without pause the Ashwood mage built up on his advantage and through a fold in space, he conjured a meteor in order to crush the Sorcerer. As quickly as possible, Elith muttered the counterspell and sent the sky sphere back, however, the Ashwoodian deftly avoided it and the large chunk of matter hit the wall, going through it.

Slowly the Ashwoodian approached and whispered the words of a reknown spell: suddenly, thick, black tentacles surrounded Elith and grabbed him, slowly engulfing and crushing him, until nothing of him remained.

Nothing, except the small crystal on the ground.

As he finished to remember, Elith gowled once more and wrote a short note for the other Masters of the Greenvale Academy.
Esteemed Colleagues,

As of yesterday an Emissary from the Ashwood infiltrated the Academy, attacked me, brought forth Slaadi in our basement and stole a treasured component of a spell that I am developing.
This mage showed a powerful bond with the fire aspect of the weave. If any of you has knoweldge about this person and any possible weaknesses to exploit, please come to me at once.

A few scorched spots can be seen where a person might be expected to rest one’s fingertips on a parchment while writing:

-Teron

After posting his response the blue mage then passed through the halls like a dark cloud until locking himself in his office. After unlatching his hip pouch, he watched silently as a small greenish figure flew out and alighted onto a book laying vertically on his desk. Taking a deep breath, he brought the storm inside completely under control, as it would do little good to unleash his anger at his tiny companion. This was not her fault. In fact, she would not even be here if the individual that caused this mess had not followed the course of action that had ultimately led him to once again invade the School and harm his associates.

“Well, Sae, what do we do about Elarion?”

9b. Self-righteousness II

Sae pointed up at him. "You do nothing. You know him. You know he wouldn't bring danger anywhere near me. He wouldn't risk putting the tower in any real danger, and he would not attack you unprovoked! I am here! If this was really an attack, then where are the bodies? Where are all the flames and the blood? You know him! This isn't his style, this isn't an attack! He came for a reason!" The little fey huffed and turned around with her arms crossed.

Deep in the woods, Elarion wandered. He had returned from Greenvale unharmed.

He thought back to the battle, how he gave the elder a clear chance for proper understanding. He could have answered any question, clear all misconceptions, but the elder foolishly chose ignorance. How typical for one of Elisara.. and they wonder why the war happened in the first place. This. This was exactly it. The foolish ignorance and need to see the true Greenwood as nothing but evil traitors, when it was they who turned their back on their king and left. Who claimed the Poison had made them mad, and successfully told all the other races so. They still do. They cling to their need to sweep their own sins under the rug, as the humans say. They need them to be evil so the outsiders will flock to their aid. Guess what, traitors. The true elves have nothing left to lose. Thanks to the pyre, they no longer have the song. They have no food. All they have is death and misery. All they can do is wait for their demise, when they will have to pick between giving their souls to Syfana or become one of the firn'mul. The traitors think things have been bad? It can only get worse, and this time, it was the elder who sparked it..

As he walked up trough their old temple, the ranger who took him to the scene the day before greeted him. "You have returned. How did it go?"

Elarion sneered and lifted the little crystal. "All of this over this.."

"Is that..." He squinted. "A crystallized form of the poison?"

"Indeed... Something they could have easily gotten from the Taureglond docks.."

The ranger frowned. "It is like they learned nothing from the war."

"They really didn't.."

After a while of his work with his own experiments, Elarion took out the crystal to examine it. He had first dismissed it as such a ridiculous, worthless thing to risk so much for, but as he turned it in his fingers, he began to see just how well concentrated it is. It was the purest essence he has seen, a crystallized form of what Syfana herself used deep in the woods... Such a tiny amount has little practical use, even for those in the forest, but if he could get more of it.. If he could perhaps find out how they did it..

He left the cell and went right up the stairs to Syfana's chambers. "Estarvalin. I need all reports and all witness statements from the case of the recent shapeshifter and elder. Anything the Firn'lith may have seen in their crystal balls. Anything. We can gain from this."
