Yeah - both of those are just byproducts of my old-man eyes not seeing well from the toolset and thinking there was a path down from those ledges that there turned out to not be. There's also a bug with a pitfall in one part of the dungeon Blue told me about that is a similar "Stuck" point. I got one fixed last night, but never heard of or saw the second one until now. I'll get it fixed when I get home tonight!
Forgiver, my dude. Falling into the gap on the way TO the dungeon is AWFUL. One good change today, not requiring a jump or a portal to even enter the zone, A+. But now if you fall (even if roped, because it doesn't actually work), you get stuck in an area you can't leave without a jump or portal.
Working telescopes (atm): old Celestron C8 SCT I purchased back in 1979, new Celestron OmniXLT 150 6" f/5 Newtonian, cheapo Meade 90mm f/8.8 refractor sniped off of eBay for $30 (these three I use on a Celestron AVX mount). Also a homebuilt 10" Dobsonian put together in 2010 and a homebuilt 6" Newtonian I made in H.S. c. 1966. Main imaging camera (atm) is a Canon 60D DSLR. The new camera is the SVBony SV305 Pro - plan to use it as a guide camera and for moon/planetary imaging.
They receive the DC benefit from items, but not from spell foci, since alchemist gas clouds are not spells. They also don't receive the bonus from the wild magic robe specifically since gas clouds can't wild magic.
As a roleplay-orientated server, we ask that character names be appropriate for a fantasy setting.
Do not choose a name that:
- belongs to another person with the intent of impersonating them - incorporates vulgar language or words which are otherwise offensive, defamatory, obscene, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable (in any language) - belongs to a popular cultural figure, celebrity, or media personality - belongs to any religious figure or deity, whether in game lore or in real life - incorporates military, monarchic or religious ranks or titles such as Lord, Sir, Queen, etc. - no honorifics (Mr.; Miss; "the Bold"; "of Bridgeford", etc.) - contains a single initial ("T.P. Pryor"; "Russ D. Chaines"). Just make the name without the initial. - is otherwise silly or nonsensical and not befitting a fantasy setting.
Besides names of characters, these rules also apply to their companions, familiars, summons, items, and in some cases, account names. All names are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and some players may be asked to remake characters or, in special circumstances, have their name changed via LETO by the server host. Offensive names may result in a ban from the server.
If you want a nickname for your character, simply introduce yourself with a nickname, but keep the full name as the name of your character.
Monster Player Characters, Subraces
Thain requires application for subraces. Please see this FAQ entry for more information: -Clickedy-
RDD (Red Dragon Disciple)
We have implemented a system to allow players to play colours other than Red. However, the RDD class comes with a few setting specific changes you will want to be aware of: -Clickedy-
Children characters are prohibited. All characters must be of age.
While slave RP can be a very important part of a character concept, the limits of it can and have been pushed. The slaves in the module are there to represent life in the time period that Thain is based in. It is done relatively innocently but it reflects the lore of the server and shouldn't encourage people to try to enslave other PCs.
While it isn't something banned on the server, it is a grey area and players involved in it need to understand this. If done correctly it is an acceptable RP tool, but more often than not it is done poorly and tastelessly.
DM's have the right to tell you to knock it off, give you a warning and so on. As with some of the rules and other grey area RP, multiple warnings can result in a serious punishment, so please if you are going to attempt slavery RP with another player - respect the following:
No sexual abuse, nude shaming or orders to walk around dressed skimpily.
No over the top derogatory comments
No excessive abuse.
No constant hitting, no overwhelming public displays of whipping, burning or any other method of torture.
No intentionally bringing other players into that RP. If they are uncomfortable with it, they have the right to walk away. Being persistent in trying to include somebody who is not willing to participate in this form of RP is harassment.
A piece of advice is to keep this sort of RP behind closed doors if you can, but know that because you are behind closed doors this doesn't allow you to bypass anything listed. Chances are it will result in you getting into more trouble.
Players on Thain are never required to permanently kill a character for any reason. However, the occasional permanent death can be a fun story or lend the world a sense of finality. Should you choose to permanently kill your character as a part of a significant in-game story, you may begin your next character starting with 3/4ths of the levels you had on the character who died. This would allow you to try out a more seasoned character concept, and soften the blow of losing a character you have put time into. We want to stress that this is for a character that you have put time into. Not merely as a function of hours played, but of interaction and notoriety. This is not for the character that has been played a couple weeks, but the character that is well established.
Should you be interested in doing this with one of your characters, contact an active staff member before you kill off the character in order to be sure that the character will qualify for this program. The staff will render a decision and, if approved, will handle the levelling and deletion required. Note that character deletion in this way is irrevocable, so be sure you're willing to lose the character before you make the decision. Also note that your character's items and equipment will be lost with them, except for one non-epic item of your choice which you may choose to give away to another character not played by you.
Rebuilds/Re-creating a character
- Using the command /rebuild (you have to enter it twice; the first time it will give you a message asking if you are sure you wish to continue), you can rebuild your character from level 1 up. The command takes 100% of your EXP and returns 50% to you. You will not be able to re-select class/feats/skills taken at level 1, nor will you be able to alter the initial ability score spread. Any character is free to use this command at any time without DM approval/intervention, unless you have RDD levels. RDD characters see below.
-If you wish to re-create a character from the character creation screen, or if your character has RDD levels, you will need to submit a request to an active DM either via discord or forum PM. This request will require staff approval, and will take a minimum of 48 hours. If approved, all exp/items will be moved from the old character to the new character. This process can only be requested twice per year, per player, unless very good RP reasons would warrant further actions.
-If you need a feat or ability score adjusted that was taken at level 1, PM an active staff member via discord or forums with the request. This process can take some time, as only certain staff members have access to the tools required to modify character files.
