Thiroth Go Home and the Thayans Come Out To Play!

After turmoil struck out in rebellion in the Thiroth homelands, Davenshire was freed of their oppression and the soldiers packed up and left along with the blockade. A great day to celebrate. Three cheers for the brave Davenshire Hin. The Davenshire Mayor can reclaim his office and put things back in order. First on the list could be to stop this happening again! The streets were lined with jovial Hin who are bringing out the special Hin Weed reserve to mark the epic day the Thiroth went packing .

Yet this has taken a tragic turn of events as celebrations are brought to a grinding halt. A full scale war threatens to erupt in the South of Thain. Reports are filling the Steinkreis Times office after the Thayan Enclave sanctioned the destruction of Davenshire. The entire village has been left as craters and ashes. The survivors are filling the roads as they head to North to safety. Banditry has risen and every unscrupulous dealer in trade and death has seized the opportunity to waylay the refugees of Davenshire. We thank Greenvale once again for taking in those in need. We warn citizens not to patron the South for you may become a casualty of war.

One shocked survivor could not believe his eyes. Returning home after a lucrative trade in Steinkreis, he got home to find all his hard work for naught with his fields smouldering, the smoke pluming into the dawn sky. His homestead destroyed and his family slaughtered this brave Hin used the profits to purchase sword and shield to join the Siege Line to revenge his loved ones. Turmoil has broken out in the courts as the leaders’ debate the reasons beyond this wanton devastation and what course of action must be taken. The real worry comes as Hamley remains ailing by the Arcane Winter and cannot produce the needed crops to make up the future short fall. Davenshire is the main source of food to the island. This leaves behind many pressing questions. No official decisions have been reported and the leaders refuse to comment.

In related news, the Circle Defence Force that were exiled from Steinkreis show they have not given up their fight and erected a barricade around the Enclave after a serious counter-attack that left the Thayans blockaded inside their own structures and many of their enemy dead. The Thayan buildings appear to be under magical protection and cannot be penetrated. Keepers, Stewards, Right-Sized and other guilds, mercenaries and vengeance seekers have manned the blockade and any attempt by the Thayans to leave the building has resulted in battle. If anyone had a grievance with the Thayans they are making the most of it now.

Despite fears that Greenvale will be the next target, the presence of the arch-mages, high druids and the expertise of the Greenvale army it seems unlikely they will be the next target but with reinforcements arriving to the Enclave by ship and portal it seems the battle will rage on. The Light be with those who fight and have fallen.

Gone Without A Trace

This tragic news is no secret. Our good Lord Kampfer stood from his throne and strode out of the Palace Keep and out of Steinkreis itself. Lord Kampfer still remains missing and Protector of the Throne of Steinkreis, Bargus has risen to the call and taken control of Steinkreis’ affairs until our glorious leader returns from the unknown. Agents of Steinkreis are working vigilantly to locate Lord Kampfer to know he is still in good health.

Rumours suggest Lord Kampfer went along the road out of Steinkreis to the East and then North past Raven Watch, Feywood and Hamley but was there the trail ended. The Northlands leader and cousin to Lord Kampfer, Lady Arianna withheld any confirmation that her cousin had visited the village. This comes at an uneasy time when the city’s food supplier has been destroyed. Stock piles look to last but other avenues must be opened to ensure the city is fed.

Black To The Forces

Rumour has it that the Circle Defence Force has employed the Steinkreis workers in the Grey Iron Mountain Mines to redirect their operation to a secret location that contains anti-magical stone according to our Arcane Advisor. This stone being known as Black Rock causes magical impotency in mages and causes those holding the stone to be unable to cast. It is expected they will use siege weapons to try and punch a hole through the Thayan’s magical barrier.

Speculation leans towards the high and arch mages of Greenvale and the Steinkreis School of Wizardry to employed to make the weapons not only more effective but to discover a way to break down the magical wall. The trial tests required roping Black Rock to Halflings and launching them from catapults against the barriers but so far there has been a lack of Halflings due to said war.

Circle Defence Force Issues Public Warning To Citizens Of Thain

In these trying times, it is important to realize that more than half of the enemies of Thain are not only adventurers, but citizens we once called "ally", "friend", or "idle acquaintance". It is from our own that the enemy recruits, and if the signs can be spotted soon enough, a grave threat to Thain can be prevented through preemptive termination.

(this list subject to revision at any time due to a broadening of the war effort and / or unforeseen difficulties)

Swimmers Beware!

The increase of activity caused by Thiroth and Thayan ships in the South Coast has caused an increase in the Sea Serpents activity and that of the other foul sea-witchery that lurks along the coast. Swimmers are advised caution for fear of being eaten alive, being victim to witchcraft and then being eaten partially alive, being fired upon as an enemy of Thay, being fired upon as an enemy of Thain or possibly, just possibly you may enjoy a leisurely swim.... but we doubt it.

Demons!

Adventurers, siege defenders and visitors to the Ridge Shield found that demons spew from a cave along the ridge and attack anyone they can find in the area. This problem seemed suppressed until the group of women entertaining the troops turned into demonic spawns of the abyss and tried to eat the souls of these soldiers. The Sergeant of these soldiers later reported that Privates Wilkins, Jensan, Brickle and Smith will never be able to look at women the same again.

Beware and take every precaution to make sure your harlot won’t take your soul as well as your gold away! You have been warned!

The Siege Line Defences

Manning the siege line defences are not only Greenvale, Hammersong, Hamley, Davenshire and the many guilds, adventurers and mercenaries. The Circle Defence Force are said to be bringing War Golems to bear their granite might against the Thayans while Hamley and Hammersong are deploying siege weaponry which has been blessed by the powers of Greenvale for that extra punch. Rumours suggest a number of dragon-kin in the South are persuading dragons to join the battle and a battalion of Feywood Pixies will be entering the fray.

While the defences pile up the Thayans are engaged in their own bitter war of Lance Board and after lengthy debate resorted to a classic fight off with Rock Paper Scissors. If this reaches into a no-win scenario then the decider will rest on a heads-up Tiddly-Winks death dual.

Bookies in Steinkreis have not yet closed book on the outcome of the war, the favourite odds so far are.

EVEN – Thayans break the siege and take over Thain marking it a vassal of Thay.

5-8 – The Siege Line does its job and rids the Thayans for the foreseeable future.

2-1 – Angry and Restless Davenshire Souls march into the Enclave and put one on the chief Thay Wizard.

10-1 – The Stewards commandeer any nearby Gnomes, spell them up and use them as magical battering rams to break the magical barrier down.

100-1 – A clumsy Elf trips over a convenient Ancient Relic in the grass which causes a catastrophic magical reaction which results in the magical barrier imploding and wiping out the Thayan Enclave.

10-12 – The Thayan reinforcements reach shore and break the siege enough to claim the line.

4-3 – The Thayan ships are sunk by natural disaster, sea serpents or poor craftsman/seamanship before reaching shore.

33-1 – The Thayans debate is tied in Rock Paper Scissors and has to be settled with a Tiddly-Wink dual.

1-897 – The Red Wizards buggered off home and left the worthless mercenaries and guards to fight it out.
