I was wondering if anyone here played NWN2 multiplayer and knew of any decent servers they'd recommend? And by decent, I mean a little Thain-like, of course.

I've tried looking for PWs for NWN2 for some time as well, just to try it out. The problem is, as far as I can see, that you have to download the module the server is running. That means you will have to do it again when the module updates - Quite annoying, as the modules are fairly big, compared to NWN1.

That, and it's more or less impossible to get a decent framerate in that game Too bad.. NWN2 could have been a truly epic game.

Hey now, Abs, it's not like I was planning to leave Thain, just something to do during maintenance.

Anyway, it's because of the size of downloads that I was asking for suggestions. I don't want to be downloading 20 gig of stuff before I find a server that I like. And perhaps it's just me, but I really like NWN2. I really /hated/ it at first, but it's grown on me a lot, especially with the two expansions. I know MOTB did a lot for my frame rate, I can now run it on high settings on my 3 year old laptop. And most of the features are done way better than NWN1, it's just the way multiplayer's handled that really steams my cheese. But I was thinking that now that the community had a good few years to mod, maybe there's some PWs worth checking out.

NWN2 Gameworlds Hall of Fame. It's quite a subjective system, considering most of the people that vote on a PW are the ones who play on it, so it's more of a thing of number of players. Still, I figured it could offer some guidelines. Also, note the little drop list with the categories to the upper left.

As far as I know, you do not need to download the module to play on NWN2 PWs... but you -do- need to download the walkmesh, which is the overlay on all module areas dictating where you can or cannot walk. And yes, these can be pretty big, and yes, they need to be updated whenever any areas in the module are altered.

As for your question itself, I can't help you as I haven't tried NWN2 multiplayer at all.

I tried it a little bit, there are scripted update systems on some servers that match your module against the servers and downloads the changes. It's not all manual labor.

My son writes:

Baldur's Gate: Sword Coast Chronicles (RP-medium, gigantic population): -Clickedy-

Both are good, in different ways."

Hope that helps.

I was wondering how the PW servers are now these days? I uninstalled NWN2 long ago when the game was having crazy problems and never reinstalled it. Thinking about reinstalling it and test the water in the PW servers on NWN2.
