I agree about the absurdity of conversations that last two days and two nights. but in terms of age - especially long-term characters - passage of time throws up interesting questions.

11:09:33 AM 01/17/20
Yeah, it's all subjective and based on the story being told.

*Points to Dogberts comment*

This is the way.

I prefer to use real-time, myself! I don't imagine any of my characters have really had 4 day conversations, for instance.

It should be noted though that time is a nebulous concept at best on Thain. The answer to any question about how much time has passed between two events is always "however much time is most interesting for the story".

I did the math on that about 10 years ago, and if it hasn't changed, 1 year RL is equal to about 30 years game time on Thain. So, 12 years RL would be about 360 years on Thain.

08:05:23 PM 01/16/20
What's 12 RL years in Thain years?

You know, this Melphaecto woman may be a bit harsh, but she at least has a code.

Vaurin is looking like the hero we all need after all.

She fixed her hair and made her way from Stienkreis to the Trade, a poster under her arm. The door of the Trade swung open, greeting Bence with a wave and a smile from the blonde haired girl walking in.

Ace dug into her bag, taking out a rather large book. Inside, where various pages, folded and crumpled art, and even some reports that still needed filed.

"Hey Bence, eh you mindin' if we post this on ya boards? Don't mean no harm or anything, just trying to up the business, yah know? Yous might have some extra business headed your way to, courtesy of the Silent Hand Mercs. We wantin’ to refer people back here so they can leaves us a message. So you get extra business, we get what we need. Here’s a postah of what we were thinkin’."

She grinned, passing him the poster, hoping he would give the ok.

Bence stands with an frusterated look on his face as he tries to mend his favorite pair of pants.

"Feel free to post in over there."

He points to the poster board on the wall

"You wouldn't know anything about mending pants, would you?"

Ace studied over the pants, eyes going a bit wide, she moved her focus on the poster board, taking small pieces of tape, and applying the poster up, as neatly as she could.
After a moment, of evening the edges, being a damn perfectionist and even critiquing her girlie writing, she turned back to look at Bence, and grinned a moment.

"I cant fix pants. But I know someone who can, I'll refer them to yah."

She waved a bit, while heading out. "Thanks again, eh!"

Greygor was sitting in the King's Beard, beer in hand . *gulp* . err, empty glass in hand, and a blank piece of parchment on the table.

"Right, ok, write a report the man said *Thinks a moment* Umm, I need some writing juice, *shouts* URI come over 'ere lad n'bring some stout wi'yer, several . . "

A short while later . . "Right *hick* report":-

Report for guild on Job Done (n'done bloody well too)

Me & Nim where in Hamely and 'bumped' into three Thayan soldiers (well, They opened the gate, n the gate bumped into me). Mandar I knew (Good strong fighter him), never met the other two. Mandar, despite being called 'private' seemed to be leading the other two, a Capt' Zay . er . Zayyid (didn't like) and a Major Dwent Chambers (Strange one him, seemed to be always sizing things up).

Anyhow, we were paid 2500 each me n'Nim by Mandar, to help them with a trip through some caves in the Drakamyre, killed loads of slaad's (glad I had me potions) and a few others things. Mandar n'that Zay fella got caught a couple of times by the Slaad's mind blast thingy, but apart from that things went pretty well.

We finished up at the wizard's tower near the Morning Night Inn, and the three Thayans went all 'umble like as they approached the Wizard (err . .Kha or Kal something or other) and reported to him about our trip. Seemed they revered him (even went all funny like when I opened me gob, all I said was what good smiths the dwarven folk were, bit touchy if yer ask me).

Anyhow, to sumiz . sumer . round up.

Mandar very 'appy with my n'Nim's work. Seem good paymasters the Thayans soldiers (even honorable, figure that for slavers). Just dont talk badly 'bout wizards whilst yer 'round'em, gets 'em all agitated (You know what I'm like about wizards).

Greygor Bone.

"Right, done, bloody masterpiece *hick*, shoulda been a bard me, URIII!! more stout lad . ."

Vick sits down, pen and paper in hand after the group returned from the Raider Island.

He notes the date and time of the trip at the top of the page then starts the report.

Silent Hand members:

Other Attendees
(( sorry if I missed someone ))

Sarleta hired the Silent Hand to assist her in reaching a scrying device at the Vasheral Raiders' isle....some sort of magical doohickey. The agreed price was whatever loot was found along the way.

Upon reaching the isle, I acted as scout, counting the numbers and types of enemies to be faced. We cut our way through their forces with little to no trouble and reached the lair where the Overlord stood.

After taking a beating, he attempted to run away. However, we chased him down before he reached his escape ladder.

Sarleta looked at her scrying device while Greygor and I collected the loot. Shortly thereafter, we made our way back to Webster's Landing where we sold the loot and split it between the three Hand members plus Ragrin. Total take was in the 6000 range each.

Final Assessment
It was a pleasure working with the Thayans on this job. Their swordsman, Mandar, is quite the capable fighter.

However, care must be taken to ensure that we don't gain the reputation of being -just- Thayan allies. We need to ensure that other factions will hire us for our services.

Ashan walks the stairs down from his room in the Cobblewall. He runs a hand through his hair, trying to make it look like he had not just waken up. Walking up to an empty seat and table, the human leans back on the chair and calls over a waitress.

“I’ll 'ave an ale, and tell me, do you know how to write?”

The girl nodded slowly, at the same time raising a brow.

“Good. Bring me my drink an' then you can earn some coin. Don' forget quill and paper” he says in an almost demanding voice.

Ashan’s report wrote ...

This happened before we started filling in reports, but I figured it would be good to keep track of customers.

Lorawyn, a Kreis Knave

Silent Hand members:

Damus, a tracker and damn good warrior (joined us half way)

Lorawyn wanted to investigate the reason of the raiding of caravans on the road south. We decided to head to the halls of the ogres and push them back, as per the Knave’s instructions.

Everything went as expected.

Lorawyn’s share of the loot. Hell if I know how much that was.

Silent Hand members.

Started out as an escort to the village north, we ended up fighting overpowered kobolds in some strange realm behind a portal.

Despite some unexpected resistance, we managed to get what she wanted with no losses of importance.

Gems, and a good number of them. Again, this happened too long ago for me to remember exact numbers.

The waitress stood up, a pouch filled with the agreed number of coins in her hand. He grinned to her, then kicked his feet up on the table, taking a swig at his mug.

Disgruntled, dishonest, dismissive.

It looked promising, he thought. Even if Ashan couldn't remember the business' name for the life of him, the concept would attract quite a few. This all without mentioning its future proprietor, who managed to supersede that typical necromancer look and was charming enough that no one ran at his very sight.

Draico thought the nature of the business would earn him some enemies, so he asked for bodyguards. More or less for appearance when things were quiet, but also to give a proper “warning” to those that might be thinking about opposing him.
Ashan agreed, saying that they would provide said protection as the neutral mercenaries they are, but any other kind of more involved support would have to be secretive.

The pay, while everything was calm, would be any scrolls the Silent Hand needed. If anything a bit more… violent was required, they would decide on a case by case basis.

Ah, how promising it looked.

Ashan makes his way to one of the seats nearby and reads the parchment carefully, a brow raised the whole time. That done, he calls over a waitress.

"Wanna write something for me?", he says, then slides a pile of coins to her, grinning.

Zadok, meet me here at the Trade in a fortnight and we'll see what can be done.
